Educators:
Dear Pastors & Educators,
Don't be fooled, all young people are at risk.
It's going on 28 years since my drug overdose and stroke and 13 years since I first published the book Victory through Fire. The only way that I can hope to validate the poor choices of my youth is to utilize the events that shattered my life to help young people develop good and healthy choices in theirs. This will be the defining summer for many young people. Some will needlessly die or become disabled for life because they really don't understand the deeper issues involved with drug use and abuse. They are not fully equipped to make that so important decision of, " Am I going to live my life as a partier and drug user, in a lot of cases a burden to family and society or am I going to develop my God given talents in my youth and become a responsible adult and asset to society.
Nothing will impact a child's life like seeing first hand how drugs have
taken my once prosperous life and lift me basically an invalid. Let's
not short change our young people by thinking ,"these are my kids,
they don't do drugs, they don't need to see this." Well, young people
want to hear about stories like this, they want to make an informed decision
on life issues. But. as long as we have to deal with denial attitude in
parents and educators we will not be able to make a dent in the drug problem
and we can expect more and more casualties. Education is a major deterrent
in drug abuse, once we educate our young about the deeper issues involved
in drug abuse the sources will dry up.
PS. Please remember the trickle down effect, the child we save my be in your family or a neighbors. This is probably the most important thing we can do to benefit our way of life. Don't pass up this opportunity to part of this movement. Together we can change the attitude of a nation about the recreational use of illegal drugs,
